What is Comfort Quilts Against Cancer?

Comfort Quilts Against Cancer is a volunteer organisation that create quilts and beanies to send to those suffering from cancer.

Members of the public can nominate someone they know who is suffering from cancer and CQAC will send the nominee a FREE quilt and beanie to help make their day a little happier.

CQAC is funded by donations, fundraising and sponsorship. The proceeds from this market will help fund this amazing charity and help them to continue to provide quilts and beanies to sufferers of cancer.

See below some letters from people who have received the quilts…

What a beautiful surprise gift!

A quilt of beautiful autumn colours, plus a scarf and beanie all arrived beautifully packaged.

I’m currently enduring treatment for breast cancer which has so far involved a lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node removal and 4 rounds of chemo. In two weeks’ time I have a double mastectomy then 5 years of hormone blockers.

But I’m one of the lucky ones. I’m 62, no other health issues and the 4 tumours in my right breast were discovered following a routine mammogram. The lumps could not be detected by touch even though one was nearly 4cm and I’m not big breasted!

This cancer journey has revealed the most amazing acts of kindness from family, friends, and organisations like yours. To feel supported and loved and cared about goes a huge way to making me feel better and stronger. So, a big THANK YOU to all the people that donate their time and skills to Comfort Quilts Against Cancer. I will treasure my gifts…

To all the volunteers, and staff of Comfort Quits Against cancer, Thank You for my beautiful quilt.

I was given my quilt last night, much to my surprise, and it is just absolutely beautiful.

It will get plenty of use, as I suffer badly from the cold, even in summer, from the Chemotherapy. So, watching TV, it will be over my knees. I do a lot of watching, as I can’t do much else.

Cancer is a horrible disease, but I am winning this fight

Extra special Christmas Greetings to you all…

Dear Bronwyn, I received news today that I am stage 3 pancreatic cancer. Then I found a parcel at my door. Thank you and your ladies for my beautiful quilt. You brought tears to my eyes. It is very much appreciated. I enjoy sewing myself so understand …

Thank you for the wonderful package, love them, thank you and all your volunteers for the time they give,

It’s a wonderful idea, i have 5 more treatments, might not sound much but to me it’s still a hard slog.

Keep up the wonderful work…
